If you’re a true bookworm your New Year’s resolutions most likely include some serious reading goals. Whether you’re aiming to read a certain amount of books, or plan on tackling that White Whale book that you’ve started a hundred times but never finished, there’s no doubt that 2018 will be the year of the bookworms! But if you haven’t yet set your reading goals, don’t worry, we’re here to help you out with some of the craziest reading challenges of 2018. Read on and see if you’re brave enough to give one of these a try:
We may already be nearly a month into 2018, but it’s still not too late to get started on this reading challenge! The goal is pretty obvious: read 52 books in a span of 52 weeks. How you accomplish this goal is up to you, but it’s probably a good idea to find a buddy to attempt this with so you have someone who can keep you on track.
While this involves reading fewer books than the 52 in 52 challenge, you’ll be surprised at how tricky it can be to find books with titles to match up with every single letter of the alphabet. You may have to get creative, and the best part is you’ll probably end up reading books you normally wouldn’t.
You can’t go wrong with classic books in my opinion, but I understand that not every reader feels the same way about the likes of Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, and Leo Tolstoy. If you’re 2018 reading goals include diving in to some of the classics you haven’t read since high-school, the Classic Books Challenge is perfect for you!
We all have those DNF (did not finish) books or novels we just never can seem to get around to reading, and the Dread and Read challenge is here to help you tackle them all! This particular challenge is made more enticing by the suggestion that you give yourself incentives to get those books done with. That means treating yourself every time you read one that you dread!
It’s important to help support independent authors and artists, but sometimes it can be hard to know who to read or where to start because most indie authors aren’t widely known. Join in on this challenge and discover some off-the-beaten track books and writers!
What are your 2018 reading goals? What challenge are you hoping to take on?
