5 Ways to Celebrate Alice in Wonderland at Home

Alice Day falls on the first Saturday of July here in the UK, and it's a fun day of celebrating Lewis Carroll and his beloved book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Understandably, the annual celebrations in Oxford are cancelled this year due to COVID-19, but that doesn't mean you can't celebrate Alice in Wonderland at home! Here are 5 fun ways to enjoy Alice Day to the fullest:

1. Make a batch of Alice-themed cupcakes

Quarantine is a great excuse to indulge in a little baking, so why not try your hand at these adorable Alice in Wonderland inspired cupcakes? Get the whole family involved and whip up a fun batch together. Have a contest to see who gets most creative with their cupcake decorations (and share photos with us)!

2. Have a tea party

You may not have the Mad Hatter, the Dormouse, or the White Rabbit on hand, but you can still spice up lockdown life by setting up a little tea party of your own. Whittard has some cute Alice teas that come packaged in caddies inspired by the illustrations in Lewis Carroll's books. Brew up a batch, pull those cupcakes from the oven, and sit down to enjoy a Wonderland worthy tea party!

3. Read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

What better time to indulge in this whacky, wonderful book than on a lazy summer day in quarantine? Lewis Carroll's novel, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, is a perfect afternoon read; it's short, entertaining, and easy to get lost in. If you want to get really creative (or inspired), you can read it off of this beautiful Alice in Wonderland poster which has the entire text from the book on it!

4. Learn a card game

If you've read Alice in Wonderland, or seen any of the many movies based on the books, you know that playing cards are a feature in Carroll's tales. Break out that deck of cards gathering dust at the back of your cupboard, and learn to play a few new games in celebration of Alice Day! Check out these 11 fun and easy card games for a little inspiration.

5. Plan a scavenger hunt
